Dr. Antonios X. Moronis is currently full Professor at the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the University of West Attica. He is also Head of the department and director of the Research Laboratory of Energy Applications and Energy Saving Systems. He holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering (1990) and a PhD in High Voltage Engineering and Insulating Materials (1995) from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Between May 2001 and February 2018 he served as a Professor at the Department of Energy Technology Engineering of the TEI Athens Technological Institute, where he had also been Director of the Energy Electrical Engineering Sector for many years and Head of this department for two years. He has worked as a researcher at the NTUA (1990-1995) and as an external researcher at the R&D Center of Hellenic Army General Staff (1996-1999). He has also worked as a freelance electrical engineer in private sector companies (1991-1995).

As an academic, he has participated as supervisor or researcher in various scientific projects of the ΤΕΙ Αthens and the NTUA, or with other universities such as Heriot Watt, Brunel, Politecnico di Milano, Universidad de Granada, etc. He has published a large number of papers in refereed international scientific journals or in proceedings of international and national conferences. His research interests include reliability, service and maintenance of electric power system components, design and analysis of electrical grounding systems in large electrical installations, high voltage engineering applications, electrical field analysis with finite element methods, dielectrics, dielectric aging in insulating materials, study of partial discharges and corona discharges, electro-hydro-dynamic (ehd) flows in air and ehd cooling applications.

Since 1990 he is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece where he has participated in various committees and workshops.
